STORY OF SAMANALAPUDABIMA.

Although there is no an historical background on our temple, it has been able obtain the attention of the people because of the newly constructed SAMANALA PUDABIMA. Few years ago, an intention was raised in my mind to develop a remarkable religion institution for the benefit for our people, but It was not an easy task for me because of the unstable economic and social situation in our region. It was difficult to build devotion in the people who suffering from economic and social problems & difficulties and such people had been unable to maintain their day today life comfortably due to lack of finance. It was a real challenge for me to initialize such kind of development with those difficulties. However, 29th August 2009 the Governor of the Sabaragamuwa Provincial, Mr. Priyntha Bandara established the foundation for our desire and it was succeed, currently Samana Kandha Pudabima has been able to attract not only the local people but also the foreigners.

The people, who are living in this area, were motive of our success and they made necessary background to continue activities of the project smoothly. They worked with me without considering their personal matters, because I trusted people than the money. We performed our duties with proper plan and integrating peoples enthusiasm, efforts and attitudes therefore we were able to reach to targets as my wish.

We will not be able to reach to positive end even with sufficient resources, if we do not utilize those properties appropriately and without a proper direction but we had plan to utilize resource appropriately. We were unable to collect adequate financial for the project, but I utilized limited money effectively and therefore we could continue the operation without any interruptions. I dedicated my whole life time as well as my salaries without stint to come closer to my desire. I had to borrowed money commercial sector people and they did not reject giving funds to me, because they trusted me and admired my aspiration.

Few months after the starting the development, the large Buddha standing statue with three flows buildings for its protection and Asuma Sravaka (Eighty disciples) statues were being constructed while spreading buddhist philosophy in the peoples mind. All of these designs were in my mind not in the physical paper. About three years after the construction we came to notable situation, which was the completion of the Buddha standing statue and other Disciples statues. Later we named this place of worship as SAMANALA PUDABIMA, because its nature was like a butterfly.

Earlier there was no this kind of opened place of worship has been constructed in Sabaragamuva area and local international buddhists people, who are coming to worship Samanala Pudabima are provided evidence on truth of our success. Up to now, we have incurred more than seventy million rupees (SLR 70 Million) for this development and we expect to convert Samanala Pudabima into an impressive worship place in the world with future planned developments of the temple. Those developments will promote value of the temple in the further, but it will not be an easy task for us therefore we require assistance from government and business sector as well as general public. Please give your attention to combine with us to sturdy our hands.
The following planned developments will be implemented in the temple in near future.

Buddha Reclining Statue

We have planned to construct a Buddha reclining statue with twenty seven cubits using large boulder which is located in this place and its cost will be more than thirty point five million rupees (SLR.30.5 Million).

Those atavisi buddha statues are established with the bodhi trees and those Buddha statues will be fixed covering whole area of the temple. High of a stature is about ten feeds and expected cost would be two hundred thousand (SLR 0.2 Million) per statue.

Other Developments

Vestibule (Wahalkada) & entrance road are important part of the temple but still we were unable to complete those. Our temple is located in vantage land therefor lightning-arrester should be established in the temple.
You will be able to contribute for above mentioned developments through contacting us and thanks for all the people who are supporting and encouraging us to reach our prospect. I invite all people, come and worship koswetiya Pllebadda Samanala Pudabima of Gikiyana Kanndha.
